Optometrists (Ophthalmic Opticians)
Optometrists are eye care professionals responsible for many aspects of vision care in our eye clinic in Cyprus. They are trained to fit and supply optical appliances such as spectacles, eye contact lenses and low vision aids. Our Optometry department provides a diagnostic refraction service for adults and children.

Contact Lenses
Eye exams for eye contact lenses include special tests that typically are not performed in routine eye test for eyeglasses. Just as one shoe size doesn't fit all, one eye contact lens size doesn't fit all. If the curvature of an eye contact lens is too flat or too steep for your eye's shape, you could experience discomfort or even eye damage. If your eye's surface is found to be somewhat irregular because of astigmatism you may need a special design of lens in order to achieve sharper vision.

Our Optometry department provides an eye contact lens assessment, fitting, prescribing and aftercare service. It provides a specialist contact lens service including cosmetic, paediatric, therapeutic and kerataconic contact lenses. Our recent addition to our contact lenses including an award winning soft contact lenses for irregular corneas and keratoconus. These contact lenses are a patented combination of the latest technologies in soft and silicone hydrogel materials using geometries from complex mathematics to offer comfortable wear and excellent vision for all waking hours.

Low Vision Aids
Eye care professionals use the term "low vision" to describe significant visual impairment that cannot be corrected with standard glasses, contact lenses, medication or eye surgery. Low vision includes loss of the best corrected visual acuity when measured with the letter chart, or visual field loss, such as tunnel vision or blind spots.operations in order to obtain the desired effect. The best binocular vision result is attained when the child is operated on at a young age.

A Low Visual Aids (LVA) assessment involves working with a patient's existing vision, assessing visual performance and ability to perform daily living tasks and providing advice for any optical aids which may help. We are pleased to provide in our optometric department the world’s leading Eschenbach magnifiers.
